Sounds like a potential overheating problem. Check the fan is still spinning, and that the vents at the front and rear (and fan) aren't blocked or heavily covered/filled with dust. You may want to disassemble the PS2 and clean out all the dust.

but the fan works good , i have a slim ps2 and the power cord that i have is the one i used in ps1
That could be the problem. You need a PS2 slim power supply for that system. The reason is the PS2 slim power supply puts out 8.5 volts, and the PS1 power supply puts out 7.5 volts.

i have same problem.i have ps2 v4.. but when loading some video or screen selection in the game his shut dowm...what wrong it is?
