I installed a DMS4 EZI Lite modchip. When I was installing the chip, some of the ribbons got bent/unplugged. I think I plugged them in correctly, but I'm not sure. I have also tried taking the modchip off the PS2, same problem.
I can boot up the PS2 connected to my TV and get to all the normal stuff when there's no game in; however, when I press the eject button, the blue light blinks a couple times but nothing happens. The very first time I did it, I thought I heard the drive try to open for a second, but nothing. The PS2 worked fine before I decided to break it...
I can get into the basic setup screen to select widescreen and optical audio and that stuff.
I've ordered another PS2 for my wife since I decided to break hers, but now this is my hobby and I will work on it until it crumbles in my hands or I fix it
Check for bent pins on the DSP chip... Make sure none are touching each other or seperated from the board.. If all is good, then you have a blown fuse. Those are labeled PS1, PS2, PS3 etc.. They are small SMD type. Just check with a multimeter for 0 ohms across them. E-mail me if you need any more help... I am also an active memeber of the DMS website and you can find me there under this same nick..

I think on that board it is the PS11 fuse that has gone out. Check that one for continuity. Better to check all actually.

Drawer arm

This is often a mechanical problem with dropped/opened systems.
Have you checked the drawer arm, if the PS2 eject button is flashing and it is making all the right noises then you may have just slipped off the drawer arm.
Remove the top of the cd/dvd drive. remove the two screws on the left holding the drawer in place. carefully remove the drawer either by sliding it out or tilting it up on the left (where you have just removed the screws) and then sliding it out. You will see a white cog and a white arm these move the tray in and out and the laser tray up and down in sync. Sometimes either the arm pops out of its groove (look under the cd tray to see the L shaped groove it follows) or it may have broken the groove.
If the groove is broken get a new tray or mould a new edge for the groove using hot glue.
If it was out of the groove then manually move the white tray arm (it has a little thumb sticking up that goes into the groove) to the extreme right, pop the tray back down onto its holding pins at the left (next to the screws you removed - you need to slide the latch on the left of the tray right to the back of the tray so it is in the open position) and gently slide the tray back in. you should see the white thumb sticking up from the drawer arm slide straight into the groove, screw the screws back in and re-assemble (or you can pop the magnet out of the roof of the cd/dvd drive and pop a disc in the tray with the magnet on top (right way up of course) and power it up. when you press the eject button it should slide in and out with no problem.
hopefully.
this is a very common problem.
