Totally screwed up fixing 1st ps2... all pins where the controller ribbon goes to motherboard have come clean off. So on to 2nd ps2... Different model so I cant swap, Anyhow..2nd PS2 dies as soon as I turn it on. Red light is on untill pressed then NUTHIN . Could this be the fuse ps1 Ive read about? If so is this something I need to desolder and resolder? I seem to be a bit rusty on that whole thing!!

What exactly was done to the second PS2 ??? or did you use the parts off PS2 #1 to fix PS2 #2 or was it vise versa its hard to determin the problem when all you have is a sketch of it

you said the pins on the Controller port ribbon came off... how far off did they peel???
I had the same problem with one of mine that I picked up cheap v5 all I did was re-lay them down and cut it ( the ribbon itself) down a little to expose enough plate to connect??

and some version are compatable with others ???
