i opened up my ps2 and noticed that when its turned on, there is no laser coming from the lense. does that mean i have to replace the lense? also, the cd doesnt spin at all. what does this mean?
all that tells me is there is one or more of the following problems
1. Laser is Burnt ( Needs to be replaced)
2. Ribbon cable is detached ( Carefully detach and reattach the ribbons to the laser)
3. a Surface mount Fuse is Burnt and will need to be replaced (a Simple Multimeter will be needed when checking them, there marked by PS1 through PS14 and there scattered across the board)
- if one is found it will have to be replaced by either soldering it on top of the existing fuse or the old one removed and the new one installed in its place
