I'm having some issues with my PS2. It takes about 3-4 minutes to load a disc when I put one in. Once the disc loads everything runs fine. During games there's no abnormal load times or anything, and I haven't been getting any DRE (using multiple discs - PS1, DVD, PS2). I've tried adjusting the laser but I got the exact same 3-4 minutes read time at every adjusted setting. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance for your help.
Yeah i am having the same problems. First of all it wasnt reading discs so i opened it up and played with the cog till it worked. No tho when i turn it on there is 5 little turns of the disc and the lens does its red flash. Then i have to go through the browser rather than it loading up the game straight of. When it is in the browser it just says reading disc for about 90secs but there is no noise coming from the laser and the disc is not spinning. Suddenly it all kicks in and the disc starts spinning and the little gold disc appears on the screen. It is on a model SPCH - 30003R
My PS2 is a version 4. I did notice that during the 3-4 minutes I'm waiting the disc doesn't even spin. Once it starts spinning, it loads rather quickly. But for some reason it waits 3-4 minutes before even starting to spin.
