basically i was cleaning my the two lenses with a q tip and alchohol and i accidentally slid the thing with the lenses on it up a little (toward the back of the ps2) now when i turn on the ps2 it won't even attempt at reading the disk. when i turn it on then off then on the lense housing moves down toward the front like normal and the laser flickers very faintly and the lenses go up and down but the laser never is at full power sorry if i don't know all the specific names for all the stuff but i was wondering if someone could help me out......

ummmmmm Playstation 2's only have 1 lens ???? as noted in the picture atatched
http://www.teamk3.com/ps2images/Laser1.jpg

and by moving the Lens assembly up and down its track will not damage it what so ever UNLESS you have damaged the white wormgear bar which when the gear turns pulls the assembly back and fourth..
but by tiy saying that it goes back and forth on its own means its ok

try lubing the worm and the 2 rails with lithium grease

and as I tell everyone
I don't condone the use of rubbing alcohol to clean a lens some are so caustic it will remove the Film off the lens and destroy it
a simple $2-3 bottle of lens cleaner from a store works the best
as you see in the picture you can see a blue tint on the lens in the picture thast a good thing if you see it clear or white thats a bad thing

also rubbing alcohol leaves a residue behind open up the unit and take a DRY Q-tip and rub the lens LIGHTLY a few times then try it again

the only other thing I can think of without having the unit in front of me is that IF you pulled it compleatly apart you didn;t plug something back in correctly
