My laser arm is no longer griping the worm nut, causing the dreaded clicking sound and DRE. I have found replacement parts on the web, but I dont know how to remove the laser or the guide arm to attempt to fix the original or install a replacement. Any help would be be appreciated. Also, I have read a lot about calibrating the laser by turning a white gear, but there doesn't seem to be such a gear on the 50001. How would I do this for my system? Thanks in advance.

ummmm first off when it clicks it could be a few other reasons
if you open the unit and start it up is it clicking while going AWAY from the spindle motor or trying to get CLOSER to the spindle motor if its going towards the spindle then its a reading problem and not the worm gear arm... these were designed to click and pop if the laser swwembly gets to close to the spindle motor top prevent serious damage and or jamming
if its doing it while going away or in the middle of the path then its an arm problem
just because it the lens has been cleaned doesn;t exactly mean the lens is good...
in 97% of the time I see and get customers units that do this its the laser not reading correctly and had to be adjusted and/or replaced
there was only 1 instance the arm had to be replaced because the laser was so out of alignment the customers child kept trying to make it read it eventually wore the arm pin down.. either way the laser and arm both needed to be replaced and a new arm comes with a new laser once installed I did nothing to the height and it immediatly read all formats and disks
