Just recently, while the tray was open, someone put pressure on it and snapped the end of the white slide at the front of the console. I have tried gluing it back on and different ways of trying to realign the tray, but nothing works. As I use a slide tool, I thought I could just remove it entirely and just use the slidetool to manually control the tray. While I can open the tray fine, putting the case back on does something to the drive and I can't pull it open again.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm game to try anything before I sell it off as parts...
That white slide controls both the tray and the laser assembly
when you hit the eject button a few things go on
1. the white slide pulls the laser assembly down to clear the tray and lay the disk back in the tray
2. unlocks the tray so it can slide out
3. triggers the tray eject motor to move the tray out
and vise versa
if you put the case back on and the drive won;t move tells me that the tray is not fully seated back into its tracks... it all depends on which model it is I have a unit that the tray can be pulled right out then reinserted with no problem without opening the case yet my other one cannot be pulled out its locked in unless I open the case and release it from its tracks
there is 2 white pins from that white tray slide that have tracks on the disk tray itself both have to be seated one actually locks the drive into place which prevents it from being unlocked both pins have to move in tandem if one is still broken off and your hitting the second it won;t open the tray
for me to actually know whats been affected I would need to see the white slide in a pic

Thanks for the help, but I'm just going to write this off. I didn't pay that much for the machine and I don't want to spend time or money fixing it.
If its a PAL version i am deffinatly interested I would like to toy around with on all I got is a NTSC
I have a Hitachi TV thats a PAL/NTSC/SACOM Definition tuner built in
and for shipping thats no prob I would pay it :)

Yes, it is a PAL model. I did a WHOIS on your IP and found it to be in Canada. Calculating postage makes it $65NZ = $53CAD. Surely you can pick up a brand new model over there for that much?
O.o woa what would you be sending then I bought 3 dead ps2's from holland and it cost me $39 to ship the 3 here

Just the one machine in the original box. If it's just the unit on its own, then you can take $10 off the price. Bear in mind that the price I quoted was for economy, so it'll take about a month to get there (remember, NZ is a long ways away).
eh its all good its not the first time this has happened to me

"that wern't very nice, he was interested and you jus told im 2 fuk off preti much"
I had made it clear earlier that I had listed it on a local auction site. During the duration of the thread, someone had bidded on it. I couldn't withdraw the auction because it wouldn't be fair to interested people inside my own country.
Had it not been bidded on, I would have happily worked with Feral to come to a benefital arrangement.
