My friend has just passed me his slimline ps2, just woundered if anyone here could shed some light on this problem

the unit powers on fine but the dvd drive does not move, no red light to indicate the laser is moving, just dead, but the console works fine

Does anyone know of a fuse or somthing simular that might be causeing this problem?

The problem is with the switvh located at the back of the console. Is the console chipped by any chance? Open up the console the find a switch located in the back middle, depress that switch with blue tac or prestic, but make sure the switch stays down. Search google for dissasembly instructions.
