Allright I have a Version 4 3001 PS2 and when I put a disk in the tray I close the door and well not a whole lot happens. The disk spins less then a 1/4 turn. I took it apart and ws looking but I don't really know what I am looking for. I did notice that there is no laser coming out of the eye when you plug it in but I don't know if you can see it or not. I am assuming it is suspose to be red but it wasn't on at all. Please help me out if you can. Thanks, Ron.

No light from laser means that the laser ribbon is loose at some end. It must be loose either at the motherboard or the laser connection.

This is an easy fix. The part where the ribbon goes in, lift the brown socket lid carefully, insert the ribbon and close the lid.

You should get the light now. Put hte things back and should read games if hte laser is good.
