PS/2 tray does not open, blue light blinks and when turned on there is a clicking noise. It is a sparingly used PS/2 (total play time < 20 hrs), was not used for 4 months or so before it developed a probem on next use. It stood vertically all along.

Any help would be appreciated.

yea i had the same problem..it doesnt seem so major,it seems like i can fix it myself..

Tray is jammed. You keep messing with it in this state...& POOF you will blow the BA chip then your SOL

It seems to me more like the laser is not grabbing the worm gear and moving inside the drive, hence the clicking noise and tray not opening. If the lens does not hit a switch that is inside the drive, the unit will not open.

I never observed that to know for sure. The next one i work on one,...i'll try it. Seems though i've seen trays work even without a laser installed...i'll experiment to find out for sure

I had a chance to try this out....the tray Will work without a laser installed all!
