We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

Hello, I am new to this forum and wanted to know more on how to navigate this site. My duaghter youngest daughter has ds. She is 19 month old. She is the youngest of 5. We home school, and have forever. This site looks really neat, and this is the first I have seen it. I am not sure if there is a place to introduce myself, so I thought I would post a message here, to see if there are many others currently home schooling on this list. I am looking forward to finding my way around this site. Blessings.

Welcome

October 30 2006, 4:32 PM

Hi. My name is Hollie and I am a HS mom with 3 boys. Our youngests is 29 months and has T21. Our older boys are in 2nd grade and "K".

Currently, Noah is attending (after a year of prayer) a special needs preschool in the next county. It has been hard on my heart to let him go, but the choice has proven to be an excellent one for Noah. We do hope to bring him home for school in time, but he was in need of more consistant therapies and therapists.....thus, the preschool. It has worked well for us, though certainly not the route I ever thought we'd choose.

I am planning on Homeschooling Hope...

November 8 2006, 12:13 PM

we have not done it with the other children for a number of reasons but feel that Hope would be better off at home and with many brothers and sisters they can't really do the "social" thing. I know that Emma Sage is now homeschooling and others do this also. If you get the chance and have not done so already, you can post on the General Forum and that introduce yourself and also let others know you have posted here.

Nice to meet you. Also, my name is Debra and I am mom to Hope who is 2 1/2 years old.

Hugs
Debra and Hope
