We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

I check in once in a while...

homeschooling takes a lot of time!!! Especially this year. I am doing the Well-trained Mind curriculum with my dd. There is a lot to do!!!

Can you tell me what math and reading programs you use? I use saxon math kind with Caleb, but we haven't gotten very far. And we are still working on learning the abc's reading wise. I'm not sure how to do the reading with Caleb since he is non-verbal. Any ideas?

BTW, congrats on your pregnancy! Wow 9!!! How do you do it?

Kaylene and DH and Kirsten 9yrs, Caleb (DS) 7 years, Nathan 4 1/2 yrs, and Jacob 2 1/2 years and Metta 2 mos.

I guess I don't check in over here myself to often..LOL

Since I am just seeing this now several weeks later.

I use Math-U-See though I haven't started using any math with Connor yet. He is still working on counting to 3. So, we aren't ready for any kind of curriculum.

I have taught my 5 oldest to children to read using Teach Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons. I am not sure how/if that will work with Connor but it will be a while before he's ready for that anyway.

As far as my pregnancy, you just do what you have to do. Right now it's difficult because I feel nauseous most of the time and I'm exhausted! We've got about 6 weeks of school left. Can't wait for break! I am starting to plan for next year though. Planning is my favorite part.

I'm here....Tara Marie & Emma Sage

April 12 2007, 12:51 PM

I've been just so busy, that I usually only get to skim the main discussion board.

I'm re-focusing my life....and plan on being here a bit more, and updating our homeschooling blog on a daily basis, so to share with others the work and ideas that we have been using in our journey with Emma Sage's formal education.

Peace and love, Tara Marie & Emma Sage
