Kid is a very good player. I think it would be wise to move kid to forward to improve his chances of going to next level, that pretty much goes for any defense who is not pushing 6' by now, I'm not being mean, I truly think it would be in most kids best interest as it would be a shame to waste good talent when the facts of "D" size are pretty obvious! |

NOT dad, is your knowledge of the game so limited that you can't see past a players size? I can guarantee that he is a better player than whover is going to replace him. |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 1995 MarliesNo score for this post | April 17 2009, 9:18 AM |
Size is problem for this player but a bigger problem is the team he plays for. He's not a top D on this squad and if he plays as a forward he'll be second or third line. |

Two words - Matt Gilroy. According to him he was 5'7" and 120 lbs. in his draft year and now he is going to be a rich man. He had the luxury of not playing in the GTHL where most coaches value winning more than development. If you had a coach that cared about the players more than himself then you would leave a good defenceman like Shiplo on defence where he belongs and let him worry about whether he will be big enough to get to the next level. Stop trying to be a genetics expert and stick to coaching. Oh, I forgot, you're not very good at that either. |

I'm just suggesting to parents of kids on the small side, if he has skill and potential (like Shiplo) play the odds and move him to forward, its just common sense! I'm not saying anyone is too small, but increase your kids chances of going a step further if you can, that's all. |

Momma C not a fan of ship either, is that why he is going to oakville?
She got rid of neill, now ship, who else doesn't she want on the team?
Funniest is her bringing Bell and Delmastro back, simply for the $$$. Why would those dads put their kids back on a team where they get NO ice time. |

The hate for Neil and Ship started on when they were all on the Sens but if she's bringing in her own coach then that's a joke. Eventually that stuff backfires on parents. |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 1995 MarliesNo score for this post | April 19 2009, 4:05 PM |
Vaughan Kings looking for a defenceman and Shiplo would fit that style of play....a good transition play starting with the defencemen........
Coached by two defencemen in their days.....Somebody tell him to call the coach. |

Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 1995 MarliesNo score for this post | April 19 2009, 5:40 PM |
3:55 The funniest thing about Bell and Delmastro coming back is that "she" didn't bring them back, it was C 'show me the money' B. If you had no priciples, liked free cash and were able to get it from two parents who were willing to pay it and not complain about icetime wouldn't you do it? In CB's coaching manual that is covered in chapter 1. Profanity laced gibberish can be found in chapter 2. Technical stuff like breakouts, forechecking and special teams are discussed briefly in the last chapter, titled development, which consists of one line, "If you are looking for development you cannot play for me, I am not an on ice guy". |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 1995 MarliesNo score for this post | April 19 2009, 6:35 PM |

The person who is writing all this crap is a slimebucket who drives a delivery van for a living and sits in front of his computer all afternoon dreaming up things to say that are totally false. Not much we can do about it, but things have a way of coming back at people like this. One day it will all come crashing down on him. |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 1995 MarliesNo score for this post | April 20 2009, 2:52 PM |
EXACTLY!!!
Finally someone gets it.
It's ONE PERSON who does this.
Goes from thread to thread, and slams everyone.
Listen up people, don't respond and you will see this crapolla die down.
Few days of slamming Marlies, next the Wings, then the Sens, then the Titans.
See the pattern.
DON'T RESPOND BACK, and then watch him respond back to himself all day.
A head's up, if something negative is said, and you respond back trying to help the person out, it just add's fuel to the fire. If you do not respond, it will get boring and has to shut down.
This Network 54 stuff is AWFUL, and it hurts alot of families.
THIS PERSON WILL BE REVEALED, his day is coming, and can't wait to see (or not see) his face around the arenas. Just wait, it will be happening VERY SOON!!! |

I will tell you what happened last night and I wasn't even there - you have the most talented team at this age group being run into the ground by a hack who has an ego bigger than all outdoors. He is on his fourth set of servants, nobody can work with this guy and it seems to me that people were warned but nobody wanted to listen. Luckily for the kids it's not too late, the last time this happened he was rescued going into Minor Midget so there is still time for people to get off their collective asses and do what is right. It's long over due. |

>>>>>>It is a better team on paper, chemistry has nothing to do with it, he can't coach. It's bantam hockey and coaching is important.
Chemistry has nothing to do with it?!! You have never played hockey or any sport at any competitive level with a stupid comment like that! Chemistry is everything you tool and that's why you can't just pick the best teams on paper. Every NHL, NFL, MLB and NBA GM would just pick the best team on paper and that would be a guaranteed Championship right?! NOT! Just ask any NFL team about Terell Owens and despite the fact that he's one of the most skilled players in the NFL he's major baggage and a team killer. That's how you kill team chemistry. Now you want to know why the absolute majority of teams won't touch Terell Owens???? |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: Marlies 95No score for this post | November 16 2009, 11:16 AM |
First of all idiot, don't compare professional sports to a AAA bantam hockey team. This team has more than enought talent and they obviously had chemistry last year so if any new player or players have hurt the chemistry what is the coach doing about it? He has no knowledge of the game, he can't even run a practice, so what exactly is he doing? But then you seem to be a genius why don't you give him some tips. |

|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: Marlies 95No score for this post | November 16 2009, 11:43 AM |
"more than enough enough talent" stop the silliness now it's gut busting laughable. cianfrone, ritchie, suban & fostino asked to do it all zero supporting cast. now you can blame cianfrone for not wanting competition, or coach for cow towing to the prima dona mama, but a heck of a mess a simple change in leadership cannot fix. coach has little wiggle room not enough horses to ride. |
|
Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: Marlies 95No score for this post | November 16 2009, 11:50 AM |
There are more horses here than on any other team ...Suspect retentions of 1-2 forwards and D but that was to give others more ice. Maybe they just can't handle it?????

Once certain parents start demanding that certain kids not play on a line with their kid, you've got trouble.
Once certain parents force the club to give their kid the C, without earning it, you've got trouble.
Once certain parents refuse to stop living vicariously through their 14 year old boys, you've got trouble.

If you have seen the Flyers play they roll 3 lines thats why they have been playing so well. |

Oh my god Flyers rolling 3 lines!?? Some of those kids don't see 3-5 minutes a game. Are you talking about when they play the Nats or good teams?? Maybe those kids get 4-6 minutes when they play Nats |

This 95 team is in trouble. There are a minimum of 4 to 6 players that need to go with few very few prospects waiting in the wings. Marlies coach chose money over offering/recruiting good players willing to play for the organization.
1)Players already in the G that are worth a look are playing on two year cards.
2)Any import playing in the G that wants out will need to get a release, and clear their home center. Not easy and if the players get through (no one wants him) then why would you take him.
3)Only options are to take AA and coach them, or take from AAA clubs in the Alliance/OMHA that have a few quality picks, and will be granted a release.
Sound like a lot of work.
Good luck Ken. A good coach with his work cut out for him. |

I guess you will see if he's a good coach if he can make a competitive team and not solely rely on recruiting....having a team full of super kids is easy to manage, and look good. |

Hey 3:28PM you're not a smart hockey person at all so save your stupidity on something else. If a team wins the entire Championship last year and is in 2nd right now, it's not a bad thing man! You don't go replacing half the team then do you?! Thank God you're not a GM man! The most you can do is:
#1 - Tweak a few things and that's it like adding a second strong goalie
#2 - Maybe add one or two strong 3rd line meat grinders that are big and can skate for depth, though good luck finding any. AA isn't an option for a top 6 club and any AAA player getting released is either trouble or terrible. You'd be lucky to find one import to come in since they're not releasing them either
#3 - Change Coaching Staff finally to one that can Coach and succeed at Bantam/Minor Midget
#4 - Get rid of any parent/player that won't commit to the team game and to the team period or risk going through more Coaches since eventually other parents/players will bail if only by losing games. Vicious cycle but cancerous parents must be dealt with by Bantam or you won't have a team left

your unwarranted assumption is previous players continue to improve. when a player has stopped improving (and growing) a downward trend is likely and third line meat grinders cannot help there.
some so called meat grinders ready to come play aaa next season, will take a lot of spots from most aaa teams. 95 a weak year compared to 94's so look for many players to come up and have an immediate impact. |

Agreed, there is plenty of AA talent east and west that continue to grow in skill and size and will make the jump next spring to some AAA teams, maybe even top 6 clubs.
AAA parents who stand on their soap boxex and slag the AA loop are simply paranoid about loosing their spot to a player who is hungrier to compete an has the tools to stick at AAA.
There are lots of smaller players on top 6 clubs that wont be there next year cause they are not big enough to survive at MM. Its all about size, speed and skill next year and CB knows this.
Marlie coach has been through this before many times. He has seen and done it all while you were probably changing little Johnies poopy diapers. He was taking an unbeaten Pee Wee team to Quebec and winning it all cause I know a player that played on that team and still hold CB is High regard.
If you think he is not a learned coach then you need to reevaluate your criteria for calling a coach "good".
Here is my last thought, it seems to me that certain Marlie parents would bitch even if the team was in first and winning most all games. You would still find fault with the coaching staff because that is your nature.
Maybe you should be less critical and more thankful that you kid is playing for an organization that most people would kill to be part of. Dont take it for granted and chill.

The only success this coach has received is due to great players that have not come to him but have come to the Marlie organization.
Just think how great a team this will be in MM with a strong coach like KS drawing and developing to the greatest kids organization of all time, the Marlies.
For most years the Marlies end up in first place in each age group except for the year they don't care about which is Midget.
This year to date they have 3 teams that have not lost a game. |

Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: Tha Marlies. No score for this post | November 18 2009, 9:33 AM |
Tough to recruit going into MM - 2 years cards and lack of import releases handcuff organizations.
95 Marlies have no depth, and are run by the parents. Money parents have kids who don't deserve to play there, superstar parents need to keep quiet. A bad combination. |

Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: Tha Marlies. No score for this post | November 18 2009, 9:42 AM |
Wake up no team has depth in Ontario. Teams can't field 3 solid lines cause there's way too many AAA teams in Ontario and then there's way too much ego. Parents want their Johnny to have it all, Powerplay, Penalty Kill, double-shifting, captaincy. Well that doesn't work on a 3 line team, heck that won't work on a 2 line team without fighting. When it's about ME, ME , ME it usually ends in trouble. |

Hey 9:31 still confused about what makes KS a strong coach? Has he ever taken a team that wasn't expected to do much anywhere? If not then getting a bunch of recruits is what makes him "the man"? good luck |

If you're talking about KS former 93 Marlies coach, if he comes in he will throw Momma from the train and all money men too if he doesn't get 100% compliance. KS has never put up with BS from anyone in 13 years. As for the AA parents thinking KS will touch AA parents you're dreaming. He's never brought one in ever to date and my suggestion is to have your AA kid cut his teeth in AAA first to see if he can keep up and then try moving up to stronger teams. |

She just says what some of the spineless fathers know - that CB can't coach - but are afraid to say. They are afraid of CB and his bluster. Is being a Marlie that important? They have bought into his crap in the name of winning and now they aren't even winning - like they should be. If they had the balls to speak up there would be real coach in there and then maybe some of these kids would begin to develop into the players they should be. Until then it is easier to criticize one mother, out of jealousy probably, than to see that it is the weasel fathers that are to blame for allowing this team to go downhill. |

This team has been a joke since the LM days. Pro Dad bully, cry baby parents. One thing remains constant - the parents are the problem. Not saying LM, PH, or CB are great coaches, they each have their faults, but the parent group on this team are constant complainers and they keep coming back. No interest is finding good development for the kid, just interested in the jersey. Look at teams around the league and pick two players from the top 4 teams. They could take a spot from anyone on the Marlies. They are where they are because the coaching is better, not because they couldn't make the old blue and white.
Right now you have a group of parents at the Marlies, who won't admit it, but have made a mistake and wasted two important development years with a guy who does not coach. |

Listen 6:19AM or MommaC, you don't find it a bit wrong that you trash the entire team's parents. That's not the way teams gel together and form a true team. Teams don't succeed when they're divided or have different agendas. Think about it. |

Mrs C you are going to ruin everything for your boy. Scouts and GM's 100% look at the family as a whole. No Jr team in their right mind would want you around (team/coach killer) |

Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 9:58No score for this post | November 19 2009, 4:29 PM |
Scouts look at families of players if the kid is average.
If the kid is a start like this Marlie kid is, they will take the parents anyway they are.
Most star players have demanding parents and that is why these kids are stars as the parents will not settle for second best.

Anonymous Coward (no login) | Re: 9:58No score for this post | November 21 2009, 4:41 PM |
You are in serious trouble if you think 'my kid is excellent so its acceptable to be controlling or high maintenance.' And NO, most stars players kids aren't controlling and over involved. Not to burst your bubble, but their isn't a 95 marlie kid that is so amazing that he is a can't miss NHL prospect. Maybe some will develop into one.....time will tell. You act like an idiot or control freak and you will close many, many doors for your son, including: many OHL teams, Under-17, Under-18, World Jrs, NHL, etc....
Why not just drop him off at the door and keep your mouth shut - if he's talented and works hard, he'll get what he wants. The noise you make today will follow him and hurt him for a long time. You really have no idea how true that is.
I've heard from many OHL GM's that if they are debating between two even prospects they will always take the prospect with the low-maintenance (quality) parents.....usually from a small town and not Toronto. |

Money men who have kids that should be playing A level hockey.
Several kids with free rides even though the parents can afford it- joke is on those who pay.
Paid coaches.
Crazy mom calling shots of entire team- like it or not.
Almost every parent on this team thinks their kid is going to the show.

11:11AM most mid-pack teams or actually almost every AAA team plays some form of trap (ex. Jr. C, Rebels, Rangers, Kings, Majors, etc.) and you explain to me how your kid will develop with that kind of "development"???? It's all about winning and the trap wins some games with less talent or at least keeps the score close! |

ALLEGED FACTS ARE THIS:
1) This is AAA hockey and majority of parents act quite strange when it gets to AAA or any Rep hockey for that matter
2) Top teams usually have the most combined ego out there, for example the above is the Marlies who are currently sitting in 2nd...let's look at some of the others:
a) Don Mills (1st) has highest paid coaching, kids coming from all over Ontario fully paid for [Subbury, Hamilton, Sarnia, etc.] with fake addresses or sorry, they 'moved' and an owner and ex-pro player running the ship
b) Jr. Canadians (4rth) Paid coach [admits being paid though], Parent owner controlling team, illegal players or sorry, they also 'moved'
c) Titans (8th) non-paid coach [Kudos...actually this guy pays for kids to play...rare in minor hockey for a coach with no kid to do that I'll give that], illegal Players from USA playing or sorry they also 'moved' and parents are living here, many kids paid for and not paying a dime
You could do a cross-section of all teams but the picture is clear enough and that is minor hockey is in a rut. Fact is that not even 1% will eventually earn a living playing hockey and most will sacrifice their educations if they even get a glimmer of hope that their kids are going somewhere [i.e. OHL, QMJHL, WHL] |
