I remember watching that brawl, and thinking.......Lacrosse has just shot itself in the foot!
It was pitiable watching the backside of a goaltender, as he lay ontop of another player, pummelling away.
It was a disgusting sight for national tv.
Somehow.....the teams and the players, failed to grasp the fullest meaning of national television coverage as they got wrapped up in the brawl.
And, possibly even worse then that. That brawl reinforced for many people the beleif that lacrosse is a barbaric sport.
Sure...maybe some players lost their heads.
Sure some players lost fights. But in the end, both teams lost it for national lacrosse coverage.
It was a sad loss to sport of lacrosse, and to the potential development of the game, and to fans.
But, time heals all pain.....and we have to thank the Toronto Rock for advancing the NLL game on TV. Pro lacrosse coverage has done much to erase the memory of that game.
If you strongloy about Cogeco getting into the act.......phone them, send emails, or better still, sit down and write a letter.
They won't know, unless lacrosse fans......tell them.
