Lets Go Lakers!

by deBeers

Don't stray from the game plan. You guys are too good to be rooked out of a game by poor officiating or head games. The defence played better than I've ever seen it. The offence in the third period was incredible. Lakers Lacrosse for 60 solid minutes will bring you guys a win in game two.

1/4 empty arena

by Anonymous

It's too bad there were so many empty seats. Hundreds of empty seats, but as soon as the Lakers are one game away from winning the Mann Cup, the band wagon will fill up and the arena will sell out, leaving faithful fans who've followed/supported the team all year out in the cold without a ticket. It happens every year in Peterborough with every sport!

Partway through the day yesterday there were only 800 seats left for last nights game. It looks like people may have had to miss a game or two but still bought the seven game package so they had seats. That's part of the reason for a lower crowd size yesterday.

I think if they had put single game tickets on sale earlier than on the same day as game 1 they would have sold more tickets. I couldn't get through to the box office until noon so it was basically a game day decision to go to the game.

According to the annoucer there were almost 3200 people in attendance leaving only 800 seats. But people could have bought packages and just not been able to show up so there will be more people at the next few games. if the lakers take a 3-0 lead (which they will) the arena will be sold out

Anthony Cosmo

by deBeers

He's a gamer. He stood strong all night long. That man takes up alot of net. And he's extremely quick for a big guy. Must have been all of that training in Ontario before he went out west. He's going to get harder and harder to solve as this series goes on. Grant may have exposed a temporary weakness on low bounce shots last night but with a player of Cosmo's calibre that is sure to be remedied by tonight.

Still Tickets Available for Game 2

by Boro Boy

For all you out of town lax fans there are still plenty of tickets for sale for the rest of the Mann Cup Series.
You can still buy a package or individual game tickets.
Last night's crowd was just over 2,800. Capacity including skyboxes and restaurant is 4,000.

So spread the word and get up to the Boro to see some great lax action. Last night's game was outstanding especially the 3rd period as the Lakers came back with 8 goals, 5 by Jr. to come back from a 4-2 deficit after 2 periods.

Box office phone number is (705) 743-3561 or come up before game time and soak up the atmosphere! It's great.

Defensive player of the game?

Did Stevie Wonder pick the defensive player of the game, or did the arena announcer just pronounce Pat O'toole's name wrong?
No offence to Ryan Sharpe but what did he do that made him stande out from the rest of the defenders?
Vicotira's goalie lets in 10 and gets their player of game though. Doesn't make any sense!!

Sharp.

by

If it wasn't Pat it had to be Sharp. He scooped up a bunch of loose balls and led at least five transition rushes down the floor straight off of the defence. He had an incredible game.

Yah, But Pat Stood on His HEAD

Yah Sharp had an amazing game, he contributed to most of the transitional rushes last night. I just think Pat did a little more (as in standing on his head)than sharp. Pat had at least 5 amazing saves where he pretty much turned around and it was there. or he got the stick up just in time (3rd period). Either way I am happy they both played amazin

Great Defense from everyone!!

by Anonymous

I think the original point from the first post was that all the defense did great things all game. What did Sharp do that made him stand out from everyone else. They were all amazing. Patty made some huge saves that if he didn't let in, the game would have been tied or even possibly lost, and that's why he stood out and should have been rewarded. Perhaps they knew Patty though and thought that he doesn't need 7 sticks (or 4).

Dan Dawson might not play in Mann Cup

by Lakers Fan !!!!

This is from the Mann Cup web site...

Towerhouse righty Dan Dawson (Arizona Sting) left the game late in the third period after sustaining a nasty hit to the skull from Bellies Beast Dave Morgan (who was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct, which could have just as easily been labeled as a match penalty for attempt to injure). His status for the Mann Cup is unknown – he looked groggy coming off the floor and there is speculation from one source who wishes to remain anonymous that things could be bad for Dawson entering the tournament with another nagging lower-body injury.

This young man can keep the ball away from anyone, and when he has the ball and is thinking net, nothing or no-one can stop him. He will not miss the Mann Cup. Wishful thinking though..., Keep it up!

As for Lewis, come on these players are althletes. His injury occured in New West and I went over to the game. Count back from tomorrow to game 4 in New West..., That was a while ago...,

Jr Callups

by Rocks

Gee I don't believe that the Rocks are calling up any Jr's. They play with the players that got them there..., I saw the Minto on TV and those players are good. Evans showed great talent last year when I saw him in all 7 games of the Mann cup. He is very good. Reminds me of Nolan Heavnor. Does that mean that the Lakers are short on the bench or do they sit out players for the Jr's. They sat players for Grant last year and look what happened. He did not click. Hey I guess its your team and your coaches know what they are doing, but introducing players that dont know the system can be hazardous.
