O'Toole Rules

Do your best tonight. At least I get to sit behind your net in the second period. You made some awesome saves last night. I'll be in blue, behind my signs cheering loud. Victoria can't beat you. You're the best!
Don't stray from the game plan. You guys are too good to be rooked out of a game by poor officiating or head games. The defence played better than I've ever seen it. The offence in the third period was incredible. Lakers Lacrosse for 60 solid minutes will bring you guys a win in game two.
It's too bad there were so many empty seats. Hundreds of empty seats, but as soon as the Lakers are one game away from winning the Mann Cup, the band wagon will fill up and the arena will sell out, leaving faithful fans who've followed/supported the team all year out in the cold without a ticket. It happens every year in Peterborough with every sport!
Partway through the day yesterday there were only 800 seats left for last nights game. It looks like people may have had to miss a game or two but still bought the seven game package so they had seats. That's part of the reason for a lower crowd size yesterday.
I think if they had put single game tickets on sale earlier than on the same day as game 1 they would have sold more tickets. I couldn't get through to the box office until noon so it was basically a game day decision to go to the game.
According to the annoucer there were almost 3200 people in attendance leaving only 800 seats. But people could have bought packages and just not been able to show up so there will be more people at the next few games. if the lakers take a 3-0 lead (which they will) the arena will be sold out
Guys you can beat them, play smart and as a team. Dont take stupid penalties and play with heart. Pat Otoole you rock, and Dan Carey You are the best penalty killer in the world!!! GO LAKERS SEE YA TONIGHT!!!
He's a gamer. He stood strong all night long. That man takes up alot of net. And he's extremely quick for a big guy. Must have been all of that training in Ontario before he went out west. He's going to get harder and harder to solve as this series goes on. Grant may have exposed a temporary weakness on low bounce shots last night but with a player of Cosmo's calibre that is sure to be remedied by tonight.
For all you out of town lax fans there are still plenty of tickets for sale for the rest of the Mann Cup Series.
You can still buy a package or individual game tickets.
Last night's crowd was just over 2,800. Capacity including skyboxes and restaurant is 4,000.
So spread the word and get up to the Boro to see some great lax action. Last night's game was outstanding especially the 3rd period as the Lakers came back with 8 goals, 5 by Jr. to come back from a 4-2 deficit after 2 periods.
Box office phone number is (705) 743-3561 or come up before game time and soak up the atmosphere! It's great.
Way to go boys!! 3 more wins to the Mann Cup!! What a year for Peterborough lacrosse!!Keep up the hard work. Dan Carey you rock!! You have been added to THE list!!
Thanks for letting the Lakers use the video scoreboard for free during the Mann Cup That was awfully big of you and it shows that you care about Peterborough as a city and not just the pay check we ive you in us citizens pay you in the winter. The video board looked great up there during game one!
Anon seems to think the Pets wouldn't let the lakers use the video tv boards. According to the paper when they went up, anyone who rents the building can rent the screens from the PEtes and the City!
The TV coverage from cable 10 wasn't on like it is for the Petes!
Thanks for the clearification, I was just a little confused. THat screen is way too high up for anyone to see it. I mean i cant even see penalties from where i sit. GO LAKERS
it's true anyone can rent it but when Twohey saw that the Lakers were unable to get a sponsor to cover the costs for it, he should have stood up and said that's ok you can have it at a reduced cost, or that's ok we'll sponsor it.
He hates lacrosse for some reason.
Anyway this topic has really nothing to do with anything so let's drop it and start adding responses to the "Go Lakers" post.
Did Stevie Wonder pick the defensive player of the game, or did the arena announcer just pronounce Pat O'toole's name wrong?
No offence to Ryan Sharpe but what did he do that made him stande out from the rest of the defenders?
Vicotira's goalie lets in 10 and gets their player of game though. Doesn't make any sense!!
Ryan Sharp played an excellent game I would have picked Patty to get the defensive award but Sharp deserved it as well. Cosmo definately deserved defensive player of the game for Victoria. Both goalies should get medals for their performances in game 1
If it wasn't Pat it had to be Sharp. He scooped up a bunch of loose balls and led at least five transition rushes down the floor straight off of the defence. He had an incredible game.
Yah Sharp had an amazing game, he contributed to most of the transitional rushes last night. I just think Pat did a little more (as in standing on his head)than sharp. Pat had at least 5 amazing saves where he pretty much turned around and it was there. or he got the stick up just in time (3rd period). Either way I am happy they both played amazin
PAT YOU RULE!!!!
GO LAKERS GO
I think the original point from the first post was that all the defense did great things all game. What did Sharp do that made him stand out from everyone else. They were all amazing. Patty made some huge saves that if he didn't let in, the game would have been tied or even possibly lost, and that's why he stood out and should have been rewarded. Perhaps they knew Patty though and thought that he doesn't need 7 sticks (or 4).
yah, everyone played amazing thats true, Sharp stood out because he was the one who had the most transitional runs (to me at least) and i think your right that pat wont need for sticks. haha. good point
GO LAKERS
If you have Rogers cable and have the digital box, you will be able to get the games using the On Demand service.. Rogers hopes to have the entire series up on the demand station within a short time.. It will also be free..
talk to Brad at All World Sports as they are videocasting the Series back here to Victoria. I got a copy of last years Series where the Rocks won, the quality and the package that AWS puts together is well worth the money
Towerhouse righty Dan Dawson (Arizona Sting) left the game late in the third period after sustaining a nasty hit to the skull from Bellies Beast Dave Morgan (who was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct, which could have just as easily been labeled as a match penalty for attempt to injure). His status for the Mann Cup is unknown – he looked groggy coming off the floor and there is speculation from one source who wishes to remain anonymous that things could be bad for Dawson entering the tournament with another nagging lower-body injury.
I live here, been to every shamrocks game for years..., I only ever seen Danny miss one game. He is constantly picked on and abused as he is a player to watch. This young man can keep the ball away from anyone, and when he has the ball and is thinking net, nothing or no-one can stop him. He will not miss the Mann Cup. Wishful thinking though..., Keep it up!
As for Lewis, come on these players are althletes. His injury occured in New West and I went over to the game. Count back from tomorrow to game 4 in New West..., That was a while ago...,
You can talk, and talk;
But you just can't stop
The Rocks!!!
Dangerous Dan and Lewis are ready to Rock and Roll. Look out because these two guys plus the Coz mean the Cup is coming back out West after this series
As of this afternoon there were still tickets available.
Single game tickets go on sale to the General Public Friday at 9:30 AM until the end of the first period.
Best to go to the Box Office in person rather than phoning. Should be a great series. Go Lakers Go!
... fine if you live in Peterborough but I live an hour and a half away. I have been phoning the box office all week and have yet to speak with a person live. The line has been busy except for twice when I got a recorded message. This forum has provided more information than the messages did.
Gee I don't believe that the Rocks are calling up any Jr's. They play with the players that got them there..., I saw the Minto on TV and those players are good. Evans showed great talent last year when I saw him in all 7 games of the Mann cup. He is very good. Reminds me of Nolan Heavnor. Does that mean that the Lakers are short on the bench or do they sit out players for the Jr's. They sat players for Grant last year and look what happened. He did not click. Hey I guess its your team and your coaches know what they are doing, but introducing players that dont know the system can be hazardous.
Ya all three played last year out here. I was very impressed with Shawn though, not so much the other two. There was the two Self's as well which is even funnier..., Self passes to Self, Self takes the shot rebount picked up by self and he scored himself.... :-)
I dont think you will here Evans from Evans from Evans this year, Steve has not been playing much & prob wont now with Shawn getting called up, as it is now with the 3 Jr's coming up they will have to sit 3 players, my guess is Croswell, Phair & I'm not sure if Wassen will be making it back from School for any or all of the games, anyone know?? if he does get back then the other one to sit will prob be Panos.
for those of us not in the peterborough area, and its Live and free, so we dont have to wait for rogers to play the tape delay crap!!!
here is the link:
And you can thank a bunch of Victoria people for that including some small businesses around the neighbourhood. John Vickers has put a load of his time into making this a reality. He should be thanked as well as the wonderful Rocks fans for chipping in to make it a FREE videocast.
I know that my father in law will have to miss game three as he will be out of town on business. He was hoping that you guys were going to do net broadcasts again this year. Good work!
Peterborough Lakers fans are encouraged to wear a blue shirt to all Mann Cup games to make the Mann Cup a “Blue Out”. Blue Lakers t-shirts will be available at the games for purchase if you don’t have a blue shirt.
