Will we be getting up to date scores tonight.
The relays have been appreciated. Thanks to the fans who make the calls, and to those who have imputed them onto this website.
I attended my first lacrosse game in the old Miller Bowl with my dad in the days of the legendary Moon Wooten. I won my very first lacrosse stick at the game for being the youngest fan in attendance. Since then, I have been an avid Peterborough lacrosse fan throughout the lean years as well as the good ones.
In all my years, I have never experienced an organization that is such a class act. My grandson was never interested in sports whatsoever until we forced him to attend his first Lakers game three years ago. He imediately took to Pat O'Toole with waves before each game and more recently advice and good luck at the start of each third period. Now fitting as it might seem, Zachary is playing goal in a Lakers uniform in the minor system.
It was very fitting that his picture is on the website with Pat as a fan favorite. Zachary is recovering from surgery and the support he has received throughout the year from all the Laker players, team executive has been outstanding.
To have Pat come into the stands to give him the high five will always be a cherished moment in both Zachary's and my minds. What a class act!
Zachary cannot be at tonight's game but he will be well represented and we will be cheering long and hard for all the Lakers!
Let's win this one for Zachary in the first step to bringing the Mann Cup back to Peterborough where it belongs.
It is toole time!!! I can't be at the game but I will be cheering loud here in Peterborough for my favorite player and all the Lakers.
Friday night was really good when Pat came into the stands to let me know that he has been reading my emails and to give me a high five. No wonder he is my idol.
All the Lakers are tops and I hope that they win tonight so I can see them play for the Mann Cup again.
Kyle got a game misconduct following his bout with Dickie in Game 4. Will he be back tonight in Brampton? Why did he get a game misconduct, and Dickie didn't ... did I miss something in the fight, or leading up to it?
The Peterborough Lakers will travel to Brampton tonight to take on the Excelsiors in game 5 of the MSL finals, 7pm at the Powerade Centre. The Lakers lead the series 3-1 and are one win away from hosting the Mann Cup in Peterborough in September.
Lakers fans are encouraged to make the trip up to Brampton to cheer on the Lakers. Bring your cheering voices, make some signs, paint your faces and help the Lakers bring the Mann Cup back to Peterborough.
For those unable to make the trip up to Brampton updates will be available right here on the Lakers fan forum.
The Lakers thank all of their fans for the good luck messages and their support so far throughout the 2006 season.
Just a brief note of thanks to the staff of the Memorial Centre and the Lakers Team and Executive for the many kind gestures and words towards Zachary while he recovered from surgery. The two Sue's (Whiteman and Warrington...I hope I spelled them correctly) were very gracious in allowing us to take over the Birthday box for the first two home games of the series. Dave Girard and all of the Memorial Centre security staff were very lighthearted and supportive of our little Laker Fan at each game making him feel comfortable. David Gray and the Lakers Merchandising Team made sure that Zachary stayed in high spirits. Dave Foster, Doug Peacock and Jamie Batley were all very kind. Lakers allum and Zachary's Peterborough Rep Lacrosse coach Gerry Marino was excellent as always. Mr. and Mrs. Grimes (parents of Junior Laker Mike Grimes) were great.
And finally I can't say enough about how much we appreciate the efforts of Pat O'Toole. From the waves, to the signed picture, to coming to the stands to give him the high five, he is truly as exceptional a person as he his a goaltender. He is the reason Zachary started playing lacrosse. Zachary may or may not ever play goal at the MSL level. He will definately have learned how to treat people though if he does. There are many atheletes out there for children to choose from when they select an idol. I can't think of a better choice than my son has made.
Peterborough is very lucky to have such an incredible institution in Lakers Lacrosse. From the ground up they are an accessible, professional, hard working individuals.
