I have too many ponies. I have known this for a while but couldn't bear to part with any of them.
I am now struggling to cope with the cold, dark winter and realistically, I need to cut down.
I have a lovely little gelding that I have advertised at a very low price to a good home.
He is rising 3.
I have had 4 people enquire about him.
One person has asked 'does his tack come with him'.
Two have asked 'is he backed'.
One has asked 'is he rideable'.
Is it just me??????
Vieshot,
I think you are probably right.
I can't believe some people though.
I have kept them all as I am too soft to part with them.
Reality has now set in and I know my elder daughter will not ride again so we need to cut down to just show-jumpers hence the low price.
Homes will be vetted though.
I feel I may have to sell a couple of mine next year, once they have been in a bit of work, as Sorcha will not be around to ride them if she joins the RAF I HAVE to keep Charlie and Sorcha does not want him out on loan to anyone and I Archie is mine anyway and I want to break Flint to harness for Daytona as he is hers but that eaves branston and Pickle who are lovely and Branston is a flashy git and Pickle is just sooo cute................not looking forward to having to make that decision
Hi Cheryl,
This is the situation I found myself in.
Elder daughter gave up riding and I thought that if I kept them all, she might start riding again.
She hasn't.
I have been telling myself for the past 6 months that I will sell the ones that won't jump the bigger jumps.
I didn't want to let any of them go so I didn't advertise any of them.
It is a real shame but it is not fair on the ponies to be stood around in a field when they can go out and have fun with a new owner.
Making the decision is one thing, doing something about it is another!
I had a lovely lady phone last night about the 3 yo. She has two event horses and wants a youngster to keep the second one company so she can take one of her horses out at a time.
She sounded really nice and is coming to see him tomorrow.
Fingers crossed.
Good luck Trudi, hope she can offer just the right home
Sorcha is hoping to compete on horseback for the RAF (although she hopes to be a firefighter in the RAF) as there is that opportunity as they encourage sports so certainly wont be giving up and she can not bear to think of anybody else riding Charlie as he is her baby, lol!! I however, am not looking forward to doing the honours although I rode him a lot when he was a youngster...........he is definitely a pony for a competitive person although he is very well mannered with no vices, he is certainly no plod (even if he happily takes a novice or disabled rider round safely)
My problem is I am too picky.
I want to find the perfect home for them.
I know there are excellent homes out there, its just making sure my ponies go to one. We showjump at a high level and its not fair to ask a pony to jump the height we want to compete at if it can't/doesn't want to.
I know the right home will come along for both of them.
i have had afew people email me about my exmoor mare and someone came out knowing she wasnt backed for her child i think i have her priced really cheap as she is rising 4.am selling her so cheap as have got my nf colt back as did a part ex with her 11 wks ago have paid alot of money to get him back so am going to take agreat loss on the exmoor but she was sold to me with alot of lies
Can't speak for any other RAF saddle clubs, but any horse kept at RAFC Cranwell is usually on working livery, as they need to be available for RAF personnel, I think.
Cant see Sorcha ever wanting Charlie on working livery, she'd not want him ruined by anybody elses bad riding..............I think she'd rather he chilled out in the field that was put through that, lol!! Hopefully they will ahve something suitable there for her to ride and compete on (although she will just end up saying that it isnt as good as Charlie as that is what she does if she rides mine, lol!!).
Our local RAF camp has DIY.
Younger daughter is in the pony club teams and competes against an Army camp that DIY theirs at their camp so they are probably all different.
Mummy will probably have to ride him!!!
Deep Joy, I soooo enjoy jumping EVERY puddle and twig that is across the tracks (he has been so 'Sorchafied') Maybe I'll just lead him off Archie when i ride him, lol!!
