How often do you change your rugs?

I put a heavy-weight rug on Molly at night. She has a medium weight one on in the day, unless it's mild, in which case she has a light-weight. Am I doing the right thing changing the rug for day-time? I just think she doesn't need a heavy-weight in the day. Am I right? She has a low trace clip.
Bluebell only has a medium-weight at night as she has a very, very thick coat. She has a light-weight during the day.
I worry also that I am taking a warm rug off and putting a cold one on. What do you all do about this?
Once again, advice would be very much appreciated.

I change rugs. Darcy would sweat his socks off if I left his heavyweight on in the day. Its a bit like us with putting coats on; if you kept them on all the time you wouldnt feel the benefit.

I would say you are definitely doing the right thing. Your equines are lucky to have a caring owner.

I always take my rugs off if the weather is nice Buster is only in a meduim weight but if the sun is shining im straight up there wipe it off and let him enjoy the sunshine, also he needs to let his coat breathe and naturally let his winter coat come..otherwise i find if you just rug them and keep them on all day everyday they wont be able to grow a winter coat happy.gif

hope that makes sense? happy.gif
