I have a very funny 19 month old Forester who is a tinker about chomping on the stable door.
He doesn't come in very often, but when he does he can't resist biting the door.
I sprayed his door with a "proprietory inhibitor". He didn't like the taste, but did it stop him - no!!
Photos attached for your entertainment. Any successful remedies gratefully received.
. So handsome, but naughty with the door.
. Now that tastes nasty.
. Really, really nasty.

Aww bless him how cheeky is he. I know they put a tar type texture on a mares tail to stop a foal chewing there tail so I wonder if something like that might work put ll over the` top of the door

Lovely photos Aud
Cribox works (if you can still get it) but it's horribly sticky
You could try giving him a ball or some sort of toy to take his attention, or a swede hanging on a string perhaps. I had a horse started doing that and I used to leave an old turnout rug over the door - that worked for mine, but obviously you risk it being destroyed!!
I like the idea of the swede!
He is actually a very good boy. Neither of the "2 yr olds" (they are both actually only 1 1/2) had been stabled for over 2 months, and apart from Harrier with the door they were so well behaved. They had a lovely brush, got measured and photographed and then went back to their field for tea. I hope to have them both out at the shows this year.
Here they are with the OH.
. Hawkhill Harrier
. Woodrose Rosewood

Knowing just how tall your OH is, your youngsters must be HUUUUGE
Lovely pics Aud...............I used the cribox on my lads as they took to eating fence posts...........they were in the field when i was slapping the gloop on and were very interested and were trying to 'help' so to put them off helping, I thought i would paint their teeth with the stuff, expecting them to recoil in horror...............no, they actually liked the stuff and came back asking for more!!!!!!
I know that a mixture of creosote and sump oil works and is nice and cheap and easy to slap on...................failing that, get a metal chew strip to stop the habit before it gets too ingrained

Chip my ex racer is also partial to the taste of stable doors! He has just got a new door and it smells like creosote and he no longer puts his mouth anywhere near it
Cheryl, we measured them today.
Willow is 13h 1/2" at the withers and 13h 2 1/2" at the rump, she is 20 months old.
Harrier is 13h 1/2" at the withers and 13h 1 1/2" at the rump, he is 19 months old.
Magnum is 12h 1 1/2" at the withers and 12h 3" at the rump, he is 7 months old.
Dunnock is 12h 1/2" at the withers and 12h 1 1/2" at the rump, he is also 7 months old.
Rowan is 8 months old and about the same height, but I think that he would have a blue fit it you put a measuring stick on him!
Are they huge for their age? No one seems to have created an approx age/height chart on Foresters, so we carry on in ignorance as to where they come in the size of things!!! We think they are gorgeous, whatever!

I own a 22 year old crib biter who has cribbed all his life.
I put a large plastic pipe which is slid onto the top of the
door, it is a tight fit and very wide so your baby wont hurt his mouth and too large to grab hold of. I have tried everything and find this works for him, all the horrible products you can buy not only goes on their coat but also on you. He is probably just teething and a swede or large ball might keep him happy.
