This is carryng on from a thread on the Chat Room, I've put it here so everyone can read it.
Sally ( Willowsbaby) has secured a venue for Saturday 11th, Easter Saturday, at Penny Farthing Farm, off New Lane, Bashley. Very many thanks to Trevor and Sue Adams for that!
There is not time I'm afraid to organise a show, but we can get a Car Boot sale and Raffle organisd by then, but will NEED YOUR HELP
We need toilets, any one know of any businesses that hire them, that may donate them for a mention in the advertising???
RAFFLE PRIZES...Donations greatfully recieved, Sally and I will be running around to local businesses and asking/begging, I can donate some horse, dog and forest view prints. Anything you can think of really, any skills you have some one may payfor????
We will need to get some posters and flyers organised, so much to do. Any offers of help will be greatly appreciated.
For anyone unable to read the original post, I will ask if its OK to paste her story on here. Simply, after a very long hard fight she can not afford the treatment she needs, for her cancer, which is effective, but not available on NHS.
She has two children, and has raised substantical sums with her help of family and friends, but is now £9,500 in debt. The treatment is working, but she needs a further 3 months.
This could be any of us, and the lack of funds through the NHS is scary/disgraceful. So any small effort on our part, could hopefully greatly help Julia and her family.
You can contact me on my mobile..07770922928. A VERY BIG THANK YOU xx
Claire, I can donate a second-hand English saddle (re-habbed and sound) for a raffle prize - loads to choose from so I'd be able to come out and fit any horse / pony and rider in the NF area who won it. On the off-chance that I didn't have anything suitable at the time, the offer would stay open until I got one which was a good fit for both horse and rider!
Phil says we can also offer a used (refurbished) Unlocked Sony Ericsson K800i Cybershot (3.2 Megapixel camera) mobile phone as a prize, too - plus a few accessories.
Hi Edward, Nice idea,, its just the issue of time. Finding judges ect, usually takes a while to organise, but if you, or anyone else wants to give it a go, please do. We have a six acre field to use, so it could easily be accomodated i'm sure.
Thanks very much Pippa, much appreciated. Sally and I are getting together on Tuesday morning, so I may contact you before then for details. Cheers.
I am happy to assist in some way and I am sure I can supply raffle prize
There must be some people willing to judge at a FUN dog show, more difficult to organise if it is a companion show as you need to be experienced in several breeds............but if it is waggiest tail, best coat, most like owner etc, most dog lovers could judge those type of classes!!
Oh, just a thought, perhaps if people were willing to 'take control' of different areas of the 'event' it would make things easier...............I know you sad it would be difficult to organise a show, but perhaps just have youngstock classes and no others!! Everybody seems to want to get their youngsters out!!

I don't know if it is any good as a raffle/auction prize, but we have a house in Gambia that comfortably sleeps six with pool, housekeeper etc. We would be very happy to offer it for a week or fortnight - the only downside would be that the winner would need to pay flights, but these are pretty reasonable at the mo. Let me know if this is useful and I can send some pics.
Its bloody disgusting the way the Govt/NHS works with postcode lottery for drugs and prescriptions. When people can have cosmetic surgery and IVF, and gastric band/stomach stapling cos they've got themselves too fat by not exercising and eating the wrong foods and not taking responsibility for their unhealthy life styles, and people from abroad get treated for free here, but people suffering physical ill-health/terminal illness cant have treatment because its too expensive or not available in their pct (primary care trust) area, there's something wrong, very wrong.
If it's not life-threatening then I dont think the NHS should cover it unless people are prepared to pay for it, and I know this will probably cause a HUGE argument, but.
I seriously hope this Julia manages to find the money or her NHS ward come to their senses and pay for her treatment, good luck with the fund-raising.
Thankyou to everyone who would like to donate raffle prizes it is very kind of you all. As Claire said we have lots to do in a short period but i know we can do it with everyones help. I was hoping that we could meet at a pub one night before hand and sort out raffle prizes etc. for those who would like to donate? Out of interest it would be good to have an idea of how many sellers there would be. Perhaps you could let us know if you intend to come. Many thanks again and watch this space. x
Unfortunatly, being a student and all, I am unable to donate a raffle, but will definatly be up for helping out if you need a hand or to organise something else give me a ring or email me ... 07532278618, xx_cathi_xx@hotmail.co.uk x
Hi everyone, i am just so grateful at what you are all doing for me. many of you dont even know me but what you are doing is really appreciated. My medical bills every month vary from £7000 to £9500. It is so scary but i dont have a choice i need to live and to be a mummy to my children.
I can get some prizes etc for the raffle from my end and will liaise with Sally. I can supply you with all the details of the drugs that i need and as soon as i have charity status i will let you know the details.
It is just so scary to be offered a life line and trying to grasp it and it is just out of your reach.
I am happy for you to paste my story for others to read.
Sally, Claire, if there is anything you would want me to do please let me know. I will do whatever i can.
I will keep you all posted on my progress, I am having a CT/PET scan tomorrow with the results on Thursday.
I do need you all to e-mail with a little detail of your offers. It looks like we will have an auction for the larger items at mid day, plus a raffle for the smaller items, so all donations any size are great. Plus the car boot which will be horsey and 'general suff'.
I have to get onto the advertiser and radio solent and it would be great to let them know what will be on offer
So if you could asap, to claire@ckart.co.uk.
How about some homemade fair games for the kids, coconut shy and ducks in a paddling pool etc, the kids will love that, little sweets for prizes or I am sure lots of people have hundreds of old teddies they could donate for prizes, I know I have a bagful in the loft. Where do you want me to drop them off.
We do have a lucky dip being organised, so anything like that you can sort of arrange yourselves and bring....great!
I'm thinking anyone who cant make it on the day could drop their things off to either myself(Sway) or Sallys(Christchurch), or if anyone else who is sure they will be able to make it is also able to take delivery of items, just speak up. I guess if you can not get there, but have items, just post on here where abouts you are, and we'll see if there is anyone local to you that could do the honours.
There are some fantastic holidays and offers being donated, so it should be well worth coming if you possibly can!!
Why don't you contact Angela at the dog friendly dog training in barton, they do fun dog shows, would offer myself but I know Daisy and Edward will want to take their dogs.
I'm going to organise a 'photo show' to raise funds for Julia. I used to run these alot in the 1980's to raise funds for Brooke Hospital for Animals and they were very popular and I made £100's on a regular basis. It maybe a bit old fashioned but I think it's worth a go. I've just been racking my brain for something that I can do from here in France that can get funds in as soon as possible. I'll mention it on the other forum to see what people think.
An idea for donated cuddly or stuffed toys for the kids.....
Kind of like a fairground game, but you line them all up on a table and the kid has to stand behind a line (so far back from the table). They have say 2 balls for £1 or 5 for £2 and have to throw them at the toy. If they hit it then they win it, if they don't they get some sweets?
or
same sort of thing but you have a load of bottles and some hoops, and if they get a hoop around a bottle by throwing it they win a toy. You could colour code bottles for the type of prize they win
Thank you guys, all great ideas, but I think we will have our hands full now with the horsey car boot sale, auction and raffle. The field will soon fill up with cars and trailers I think.
We'll have a flat bed trailer for the auctioneer to stand on. Run the raffle first at 12.30pm, tickets will be sold on the day, and then hold the Auction immediately afterwards.
Burger van by 'Pride of the Forest'
Hopefully lots of cakes and plants.
Childrens lucky dip.
I'm just waiting for some photos, then will have the poster and flyer to download.
We will need a list of Auction items by 1st April, and a rough idea of how many raffle prizes would be ideal
So far it is looking good, I think there will be a lot to sell. Fantastic auction prizes:
6 berth holiday home in Gambia with pool and housekeeper for one or two weeks,

Free Private dental examination, scale and polish!!
Plus loads of great raffle prizes donated by some local businesses (Will be listed at the time) and individuals ( can be listed if they are happy to be).
Thank you too for all the offers of help. We will need to know who will be available on the day, as we will need a load of ticket sellers.
I will keep updating to let you know any new auction prizes as they come up, so keep passing the word around.
I think it is going to be a very busy day, and lets hope we make LOADS!!!
I know this is a horsey chat site but maybe if it was advertised elsewhere for non-horsey people and is the car boot just for horse items because i think you will get alot more people if they can do an ordinary car boot items as well. Just an opinion. I know alot of people who love to do car boots but arent horse people.
Thanks Edward for your suggestion and we had thought of that. The only trouble is if we opened it up as a general carboot we could end up with so many cars and not enough room!
It is human Penny lol!! Not something we would want to get confused with!! Dont fancy one of those huge things in my mouth...well you know what i mean ;-.
Claire, I have been given a free stud fee for the auction from Diana and Michael Scott of Brendon Hill Event Stallions for the stallion TINSLEY FAERIE LEGEND, a horse that i actually bred.
Julia
I am also hoping to get a lesson from either William or Pippa Funnell.
Yes we have taken other peoples advise and now decided to do a general carboot as well. Anyone see it in the New Milton Advertiser today, front page! Lets hope we get loads of people there and raise lots of money for Julia's treatment.
That is fantastic Julia! Good exposure in the advetiser too. Steve and I are putting together the poster, so that will be ready for downloading very soon!
The NFU are kindly going to do help us out with the insurance too, hoping to hear today of another offer so fingers crossed.
We will have a big list available soon too.
Take care, and we do hope to see you on Saturday, but obviously, only if you feel up to it:-)
