Just got this email and feel i need to pass on to every one asap
Dear all,
You may find this e mail disturbing.
Over this last weekend a horse was sexually assaulted and then the genitals mutilated. You may recall a series of these offences all over the south approx 15-18 years ago. This may be a one-off or may be the start of of a new series. The incident occurred near to Kings Somborne. I am preparing a media release but at the moment I have no clues to help with this investigation, the matter was delayed in being reported as the owner was in fear of being harassed by press.
Please be on the lookout for anything unusual and please pass on to anyone you know that owns horses.
I've been onto Hampshire Horsewatch, there doesn't appear to be any fresh attacks, but there was an Email going around in January that mentioned Kings Somborne. Hopefully it is a false alarm, but I will let you know if I hear any further details.
thanks steve
the email i recieved was an official hampshire constabulary one so i am quite concerned that this was not related to a recent incident could you please let me know any further details if you hear them. my own horses are around this area so if this is not quite right i would value, why, this email was circulated.
many thanks
It has now been confirmed & I've been asked t post the following..
"Hampshire police are enquiring into a report that on or about 12th July this year a horse in the Kings Somborne area of Hampshire received injuries. At the current time the matter is unexplained and the cause of the injury uncertain.
Horse owners are always encouraged to report matters affecting their animals as investigation and research invariably reveals that nothing sinister has happened and the cause of the concern can be readily explained thereby allaying the fear of crime and concern.
If a horse owner has concerns that their animal has been subject of some criminal activity then they should contact their local police via 0845 045 45 45 or contact Hampshire Horsewatch and Equine Liaison via equine@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.
Where injury is sustained then owners are advised to get veterinary advice and attendance as soon as possible.
As always the equine community is encouraged to identify and meet their Safer Neighbourhood Policing teams. Equally they should identify who their nearest Equine Liaison Officer is as well as how to contact Hampshire Horsewatch.....equine@hampshire.pnn.police.uk and www.nfed.co.uk/horsewatch "
