All this talk about clipping - what really are the best clippers (cordless or mains) within a reasonable price??

What do people prefer cordless or mains??

I have Lister Showman Cordless Clippers. They are big and meaty and they glide through the hair. I would recommend them without hesitation, they are probably £300 - £350 but you do get what you pay for.

Do not even entertain the Liveryman Maverick Clippers, they are NOT good.

They break dude, you may be lucky, and I hope you are.

But mine broke and Cheryls broke. Something in the clipper head falls off and you have to send them back to Liveryman who are actually fabulous and the fix them FOC. But it is a pain. I think it is something to do with the rotating head, which actually seemed like a good idea at the time, but I never used it!

So if yours should stop clipping, when they are not hot, and are clean and the blades are sharp, but just will not clip, chances are the bit has fallen off.

I got mine fixed and serviced, again FOC and then I sold them on Ebay quick as I could. Person who bought them was really pleased! Wonder if they still are now????

I like my Moser Avalon cordless clippers as they are light weight and quiet. They are probably one of the most reasonable priced clippers on the market too.

Thanks for your replies. I ordered the Moser Avalon Horseline cordless clippers and they came today. They appeared to be decent clippers within a good price range. So hopefully I should have some luck with them.

What are the best clippers

My avalons were great for the first clip then tryed to use them the other day and they only clipped half o my horse before packing up, seems loads of people on here had same prob tho others havent so hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones.

I just bought a new pair the liveryman arena blue, they are fantastic!!! and thorougly recomend them, not too big and clumsy and not too heavy and powered through the clip, one of the best clippers ive ever used, not too noisy either!!!

Did my first ever clip yesterday and was bit of a disaster - not the clippers - me - loads of tram lines - lol. So he had second clip today - looks much better but not perfect.

My new Avalon clippers - come with a 4 page booklet about caring for the blades to ensure clippers work properly throughout clipping. I had to stop quite a few times to clean, brush out and oil the clippers within a 3 hour period and worked super.

Also you think you have the clipper blades in the clipper properly and then when dont cut - you realise you need to push them in further to get a click sound.

I have Lister Liberty cordless clippers... best money i ever spent! Having minis i needed something that was light weight and quiet and very easy to use... as well as being heavy duty enough togo through a shetlands thick coat! My old avalons were'nt up to the job... in fact they packed up on me several time, they are good clippers, very light quiet but no good if you got hairy ponies! Also being clip on blades i was told never to seperate the blades, something to do with re-tensioning them... nightmare pain!

I love my lister ones... and so do my ponies.. and they did about 5-6 full clips on fluffy shetlands before the blades started to go.

I could never had corded ones as some of mine aren't the easiest to clip... too much worry of ended up with clippers on floor or pony tangle in the wire!
