hi all, i've just switched from low carb to low fat, and i miss the full feeling i had while on low carb due to ketosis, but i'm determined to not go back to low carb because i feel what i'm doing now is healthier. i try to eat around 1500 calories a day, but i just can't seem to feel full, even eating lots of fruits and veggies which i thought ought to work. does anybody know of a good appetite supressant to help me out? any suggestions, pills or anything else?

This forum is mainly intended for discussion of supplements and natural health solutions rather than drugs, i.e. natural ways of losing weight which are not compromising to your health rather than drugs and surgical procedures which are hopefully the last resort even for the desperate.

Hoodia

If you want an appetite suppressant there is an herbal medicine creating quite a stir in the natural products marketplace. Hoodia gordonii is a cactus-like plant that grows in the Kalahari desert of Africa. It has been eaten by the Bushman for centuries fopr appetite suppression but only recently has this marvellous plant come to the attention of the rest of the world. Having said that, like everything I don't suppose it will work for everyone.

Hoodia did not work for me! But appetite suppression is still what I'm mainly interested in. It's for me the best way to salvation. I'd be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on what other appetite suppressants there are.

good appetite suppressant

You may have heard of this already but Yerba Mate tea is a good appetite suppressant. It is used widely in South America. It gives me energy (but not like caffeine) and supposedly, it contains a lot of antioxidants. I love the stuff for what it does but it don't taste too good!

For you chubby girls wanting to slim.
Found it on the net.

Brindleberry

Nature's slimming aid
• Helps to inhibit fat production
• Helps to curb the appetite
• Helps to reduce food intake

An extract from a rare tropical fruit may be the answer to the dieting problems of many overweight people. The rind of the exotic fruits of the Garcinia cambogia tree, more commonly known as Brindle Berry, contain a unique substance that may effectively curb the appetite, inhibit the production of fats and cholesterol and reduce food intake. It has been found to contain a fruit acid now named Hydroxycitric Acid or HCA. HCA has been shown to reduce food intake and body weight gain. HCA has undergone toxicity studies and has been found to be safe and perhaps even safer than citric acid.

Brindle Berry is thought to be different in its action, in that it inhibits the production of fats from carbohydrates. Studies have shown that HCA may be effective in reducing fat production by 40 to 70 percent for up to twelve hours following a meal.

Its effectiveness in curbing the appetite and reducing food intake, as excess glucose is no longer being turned into fatty tissue, it remains stored as glycogen, the brain receives a message that energy reserves are full and so no more food needs to be taken in. Hunger pangs are effectively suppressed, and it is much easier to keep to a low calorie intake.

HCA does not act on the central nervous system, it does not have a stimulating effect, as some other dieting aids do. HCA does not appear to have any rebound weight gain effect either. Studies have shown that the rapid weight gain experienced by some when they discontinue a weight loss programme does not occur when they stop taking Brindle Berry extract. Nor does the body develop a tolerance to it that could render it ineffective.
