With the recent release of the Tristar kit of this model of the ubiquitous Pz.Kpfw. IV, as well as the impending arrival of the DML kit, this new sheet from Bison is a timely addition to this manufacturer’s ever-expanding product line. It contains markings for 8 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.Ds, including:
• Yellow 301/Red Devil, 5.Pz.Div.
• White outline 824, 5.Le.Div.
• White outline 414, 5.Le.Div.
• Black 4, 15.Pz.Div.
• Yellow 421, 6.Pz.Div.
• White 33 over Panzer rhomboid, 11.Pz.Div.
• White 933 (Tauchpanzer), 18.Pz.Div.
• White 632 (Tauchpanzer), 18.Pz.Div.
All of the designs are in excellent register, have sharp details and fine color saturation. In a departure for Bison, this sheet has been printed in the UK by a company called Colour Slide. The instructions are clearly rendered and include multiple views of the targeted tanks. There are detail scrap views where needed as well as a “map” on one of the two instruction sheets; this contains numbered call-outs to be matched with individual designs and then with the part of the model to which they are applied. Color information is also given as are both paper and electronic reference sources. Other items, such as stowage variations are also shown; this last little bit of detail certainly underscores this manufacturer’s dedication to his fellow modelers.
I have already picked the scheme I am going to use on my Ausf.D (11.Panzer-Division). Which one are you going to model?
