ALT352015, M3 Medium Tank, Lee & Grant. 1/35th-scale water-slide decals with instructions.

This companion set to ALT352006, continues the theme of British M3s that served in North Africa, while also providing markings for US Lees in Tunisia, stateside, and during training and in the UK. A pair of T2/M31 TRVs are also catered for, one of which served in France, the other in Sicily. Finally, markings are also provided for lend-lease M3s that served with the Soviets in the East. In short: there is a great deal of variety not only in colors and markings, but specific vehicle types as well. Markings are provided for the following:

"Monty", British Grant, HQ 8th Army, North Africa 1942.
British Grant, C-Squadron, HQ 8th Army, North Africa 1942.
Pinocchio, British Grant, unknown unit, North Africa 1942.
Curly Wee, British Grant, unknown unit, North Africa 1942.
T-24526, British Grant, Scots Greys, North Africa 1942.
"Battleship II", British Grant, Staffordshire Yeomanry, North Africa 1942.
Battleaxe, British Grant, Staffordshire Yeomanry, North Africa 1942.
Chicago, British Grant, GS-Squadron, Warwickshire Yeomanry, North Africa 1942.
T-23504, British Grant, unknown unit, North Africa 1942.
White 11, M3 Lee, Soviet 5th Army, Kursk 1943.
White 15, M3 Lee, Soviet 5th Army, Kursk 1943.
White 147, M3 captured from US Army by Germans, Tunisia.
White D-10, M3, US 2nd Armored Division, USA 1942.
Bingo, M3, unidentified US armored unit, time and place.
Buturlinovka III, unidentified US armored unit, Great Britain 1942.
Go Get It, T2 ARV, US 2nd Armored Division, Sicily 1943.
Faya, M31 TRV, French 2nd Armored Division, France 1944.

There may be one glitch as far as accuracy goes. My references place White 147 on the Eastern Front as an ex-Soviet-crewed vehicle captured by the Germans, not as an ex-US vehicle captured in Tunisia. Otherwise, these schemes all look very good and again exhibit a very wide variety of markings and camouflage systems.

As usual, the designs are printed by Microscale. This is a near-guarantee that the colors will have excellent saturation, while the details will be exceedingly crisp. Carrier film is thin and glossy and surrounds the individual designs. Use of Micro-Sol and Micro-Set, as well as clear gloss undercoat and matte overcoat, will ensure the best results. The instructions are in full color and consist of (usually) more than one view of each subject vehicle. Such things as stowage, track types, sand shield patterns and other details are also called out, while references are listed for those who wish to delve deeper into the visual peculiarities of the particular tank they wish to model.

This is yet another high-quality release from Echelon, aimed squarely at fans of the M3 medium tank and its derivatives.

Highly recommended.
