At first glance, the idea of Deep Water Fording Equipment for the M7 HMC kit by Academy, sounds like a fine idea. In this reviewers opinion, it certainly is. However, this etched brass detail set only comes with part of the fit; so dont get too excited, OK?





The main section of the M7 catered to in this set is the rear of the hull with its associated exhaust system. All of the mounting strips as well as their fairing panels are provided. This assembly is what adapted the more-or-less standard trunk stack to a specific vehicle and it boxes in the rear end of the M7 rather nicely. Next comes the main lower trunk section, complete with clamps and mounting strips. To this is fitted the upper stack section with its characteristic curl; this section includes internal divider plate and some other small detail bits.





The final main item in this set is the plate that sealed the opening for the M7s 105mm howitzer, while there is even a small cover plate to seal the howitzers bore. Photos show a high parapet erected around the open gun compartment, which is not represented in this set. This reviewer also presumes that the engine air intake screen received some sort of attention, but photos showing that area in deep wading mode are not available.





Although this set is a bit incomplete, it is still more helpful to the modeler than if it did not exist. It will certainly provide a fine start to any modeler who wishes to waterproof his M7.
