EDUARD

TP528, Radio Equipment WWII Wehrmacht. 1/35th-scale pre-colored etched brass detail set, with instructions.

On occasion, a manufacturer does something quietly innovative, which almost immediately becomes an expected feature. This is the case with Eduard, who pioneered the wide-spread use of pre-finished etched brass parts for their aircraft detail sets (some old timers may also remember the long-gone Waldron cockpit placard sets). These kinds of sets usually provided the aircraft modeler with a precisely-finished cockpit, to include extremely finely-detailed instrument panel dials, panels, placards and knobs. Later, Eduard gave AFV modelers such things as pre-finished vehicle registration plates and rank insignia. Recently, modelers of German WW2 AFV-related subjects have been given this treatment with this well-designed set to depict various radio sets.

To begin with, the front panels are completely finished in the proper colors, with the minute details of the sets in question very well-rendered. This includes such things as knobs and switches, as well as the dial faces; even the small instruction placards are crisply-rendered. Pack straps and other separate details such as clock faces are also pre-finished. The remainder of the cases are presented in un-finished brass, which are to be painted in the proper colors by the modeler.

The instructions list the following radio components as being provided:

Torn.Fu. d2.
Torn.Fu. b1.
Fu.9.
Fu.11.

The first two radio sets are normally mobile infantry sets, while the second two are normally vehicle-mounted. References show these items to be visually quite accurate. However, the modeler must use his references wisely and not simply slap a radio set onto the first model he sees.

In essence, this is a very handy set, which will really spruce up any vehicle model or diorama.

Highly recommended.
