This is the Fine Molds 1/72 Bf 109G-6 kit, the one that comes with brass 20mm cannon barrels for the underwing gondolas. It is built to represent Hermman Graf's "Green 1", Red Tulip mount from Jagdgruppe 50 in 1943.

The paint work is a combination of Tamiya acrlyics and Testors Model Master enamels.

I know it is hard to see from these angles, but the cockpit interior is from Roy Sutherland's fantastic Cooper Details set for this kit. Wowzers. Also, I seperated the kit canopy with a JLC Razor saw.

The decals are all from an Eagle Cals decal sheet. The set includes full stenciling and superior reference photo's for Graf's Red Tulip... all the decals on the sheet were beautiful and flawless, except for the tulip petals. EC has these as three seperate colors of tulips that are to be applied in layers. The first layer of decals (white) did not conform to the compound curves on the nose, such that I knew that three layers of tulip petal decals were not going to pan out. Instead, I used scrap yellow decal stock cut into strips for the yellow tulip boarder, then shot a coat of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss over these and masked the area. The Red tulip marking was painted, along with the spinner, with Tamiya acrylic XF-7 Flat Red.

I owe a debt of gratitude to a great many modelers who helped me through the learning curve of painting Luftwaffe schemes recently, most of whom were mentioned in my previous posts here on Hyperscale. Again, the value of this website as a source for inspiration and assistance is what I find indespensible, and represents the best in all who post here.

And yes, I did watch Floyd Werner on the DVD player as I was building this.

I can not recommend these Fine Molds Messerschmitt kits enough for those who dare to build one in 1/72.

Hope you like it, and happy modeling out there,

Marty Sanford
