This build was done for IPMS Canada to show off their next decal insert - decorated Voodoo's in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. This will be in a future issue of Random Thoughts, their quarterly journal. Paid up members of IPMS Canada will be getting this small sheet gratis. This link will take you to their dedicated website where you can enlist wink.gifhttp://www.ipmscanada.com/

The model used for this (that will also be a short build article in this issue of RT), was the 1/72 scale Matchbox kit.

This was more by default then preference. The asking price on eBay for the 1/72 scale Revell kit was well above retail - when you can actually find it! With a Matchbox kit in the stash for years... The good news was, that I had a good number of the details parts painted and ready to go from a pranged Revell kit. Revell donated the entire landing gear, drop tanks, Falcon missiles, and afterburner cans.

The single biggest improvement done to the kit after scratch building a new cockpit, was sanding off all the over sized framing on the canopy parts. These were then sanded smooth and clearly show off the new cockpit.

Several Canadian options are on the sheet, but the only RCAF (versus CAF) was chosen. Besides, who would not laugh at 409's Night Hawk having a stein of beer, while enjoying a cigar!

IPMS only supplies these unique markings, so the 'standard' stuff must come from the kit or after market. Fortunately, there are two options for Canadian 1/72 scale Voodoo. Most of the markings used came from the current Mike Belcher Belcher Bits Decal BD10 sheet, while some stencilling and simulated outlets (excellent BTW) came from the OOP(?) Leading Edge 72.006 sheet.

Thanks for dropping by.

Cheers and Happy New Year to all, Vic

To post an image of your models, you will first need to find somewhere to host your photos on the Internet. Your ISP will often give you a limited amount of free web storage, and other online photo storage is also available.

To post a link or an image, simply type in the URL (web address) of the destination page or image. The URL will appear as a link (for an HTML link) or an image (if you link direct to a .jpg file) when posted. You can use the Preview facility to see how your message looks before posting to Plastic Pix.

Please try to keep image sizes to 800 pixels wide or less, as larger sizes will be too big to fit on many computer screens. Also, file sizes should be kept to around 100kb or less, otherwise download may be very slow.
