This is Tamiya's 1/48 kit built as an F2A-2. The kit cockpit was replaced with a True Details resin set. Markings, from Yellow Wings Decals, are for plane no. 1 of VF-3 "Felix the Cat" aboard the USS Saratoga in early 1941. Yellow Wings also provided the black piping for the wing chevron, prop stripes, and Curtiss Electric prop logos. National insignia are from the kit and worked just fine. All red was painted. Other colors: Krylon White for the tail; Model Master Deep Yellow for the wings; Alclad Aluminum and Semi-Matte Aluminum mixed 2-to-1 for the aluminum surfaces. The windscreen is from the Special Hobby kit (a drop-fit thank goodness); the rear canopy is cut from the Tamiya kit's single clear piece (very thick); the sliding canopy is Squadron vacuform.

To post an image of your models, you will first need to find somewhere to host your photos on the Internet. Your ISP will often give you a limited amount of free web storage, and other online photo storage is also available.

To post a link or an image, simply type in the URL (web address) of the destination page or image. The URL will appear as a link (for an HTML link) or an image (if you link direct to a .jpg file) when posted. You can use the Preview facility to see how your message looks before posting to Plastic Pix.

Please try to keep image sizes to 800 pixels wide or less, as larger sizes will be too big to fit on many computer screens. Also, file sizes should be kept to around 100kb or less, otherwise download may be very slow.
