Someone had asked about these and I sprung the $12 to try a can. They are NOT really of any use to model builders IMHO.

To be fair to Liquitex, the stuff is an art paint, and the fanfare on the can describing its usefulness to art and craft projects really doesn't mean plastic model kits.

The paint is an acrylic, and it feels and smells a lot like latex house paint. It goes on very very thinly, but also its very translucent. Painting a nice Desert Sand color over light grey plastic gave me a sort of dark greenish earth shade and more coats did not really give the true color. Likewise, painting it over white gave me a white item with a yellow tint. Oddly for an acrylic, it dries somewhat slowly (a couple hours even in a warm garage) and it has a funny rubbery feel. When dry you can easily scrape it off to bare plastic or primer with your finger nail, so its not very durable. Being very thin, it tends to puddle, run, and drip easily.

I tested it on some actual model parts and its just not going to cut it. I will strip it all off and start over with better paint.

To post an image of your models, you will first need to find somewhere to host your photos on the Internet. Your ISP will often give you a limited amount of free web storage, and other online photo storage is also available.

To post a link or an image, simply type in the URL (web address) of the destination page or image. The URL will appear as a link (for an HTML link) or an image (if you link direct to a .jpg file) when posted. You can use the Preview facility to see how your message looks before posting to Plastic Pix.

Please try to keep image sizes to 800 pixels wide or less, as larger sizes will be too big to fit on many computer screens. Also, file sizes should be kept to around 100kb or less, otherwise download may be very slow.
