Hi All,
I just finished my Planet Models 1:48 Letov S.231 in the colors of Flight Regiment No. 2 Czechoslovakian Air Force, Olomouc Air Base, circa 1936. I added some detail to the engine - exhaust stacks to collector ring, intake tubes, and ignition wiring. The engine is exposed in that ring cowl and looks naked without all that stuff. I also separated the elevators and rudder. I had to make new "N" struts, as the kit struts were raked at the wrong angle and could not be made to fit. A step backward for every two steps forward and today I finally declared it done!

Thanks, Matthias. This is the only one I know of in 1:48. I got this one because it was on sale. Not a bad kit.

Love the laminated prop. Any hints on the method used?

Thank you. I painted the prop with MM Radome Tan, then masked it with thin strips of Tamiya tape, hit it with dark brown, then pulled the tape and ran a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol lengthwise to smooth out the brown. When it looked about right, I coated it with "Varnish" (Future tinted with a drop of yellow food coloring). I'm still experimenting with that wood finish - the guys who do wood finishes on the WW I stuff amaze me!

Okay, which pictures are the model and which are of the real thing?... Beautiful build. Love those older WWII planes.

Thanks, Robert. I don't believe that there are any examples of the real thing left.

To post an image of your models, you will first need to find somewhere to host your photos on the Internet. Your ISP will often give you a limited amount of free web storage, and other online photo storage is also available.

To post a link or an image, simply type in the URL (web address) of the destination page or image. The URL will appear as a link (for an HTML link) or an image (if you link direct to a .jpg file) when posted. You can use the Preview facility to see how your message looks before posting to Plastic Pix.

Please try to keep image sizes to 800 pixels wide or less, as larger sizes will be too big to fit on many computer screens. Also, file sizes should be kept to around 100kb or less, otherwise download may be very slow.
