Hi guys,

This is the Academy kit, built straight from the box. A great little kit that fits together really well apart from one join under the fuselage/wing.
Finished with Tamiya IJN Grey xf12 and IJN Green xf11, which came out very dark and wasn't helped when I put a coat of Future over that. Almost looked black!

Continued with the build anyway thinking I could lighten it up at some stage. Decals went down fine, no issues but the Hinomaru's look a very bright shade of red?

I flat coated with Alclad Klear kote which I have only just started to use, nice product actually.

To solve the problem of the overall finish being too dark I used a couple of shades of green Pastels to weather the Green Finish and lighten it up a bit.
I used a slightly lighter colour on the fabric surfaces and top of the fuselage.

This was just ground up and applied with a brush, just trying to highlight the centre of each panel and then using a much larger, softer brush to blend together. It looks a bit overdone in the pics, it looks like its picking up the light a lot, that and my skills with the camera are lacking!

Finally the aerial was attached and I called it done.

Happy modelling, feedback welcomed.

Regards,

Ash

To post an image of your models, you will first need to find somewhere to host your photos on the Internet. Your ISP will often give you a limited amount of free web storage, and other online photo storage is also available.

To post a link or an image, simply type in the URL (web address) of the destination page or image. The URL will appear as a link (for an HTML link) or an image (if you link direct to a .jpg file) when posted. You can use the Preview facility to see how your message looks before posting to Plastic Pix.

Please try to keep image sizes to 800 pixels wide or less, as larger sizes will be too big to fit on many computer screens. Also, file sizes should be kept to around 100kb or less, otherwise download may be very slow.
