This is an e-Bay find. It is the old Aurora F7U-1 kit in 1/70th scale. I sanded the all of the six-inch rivets off, filled the monster sink marks on the wing-roots where the mold wasn't cool enough when the parts popped out, and recribed the slats and control surfaces.
I cut out the molded pilot's head and built up a cockpit. I cut out the molded-flats that represented the wheel-well and boxed them in. I removed the prototype nose-"spear" and rounded the nose cone to shape of a production aircraft.
I brush-painted the whole aircraft Humbrol #181 Glossy Sea Blue. I chose this color because I could not find any references that the Blue Angels had the F7Us repainted with commercial paint colors like many of the other Blue Angels aircraft. The decals came from the scrap-box.
I now have one of each aircraft that the Blues flew in airshows.
I have added extra photos as requested. My only resource for the build is the Squadron/Signal Blue Angels book.
Photographed with my i-Phone. Adios, Larry.

Field Artillery brings dignity to what otherwise might be merely a vulgar brawl.
