BEFORE you start cutting brake shoes . Measure the drum and the shoes to make sure they fit. for drum brakes there are 3 different sizes. Also you might try swaping the springs. Put the spring that is now on the bottom on top and top on bottom. Cutting your brake cores will generate heat and those are hardened and it WILL change the temper. And you DO NOT want to do that.
