...if not, use a synthetic gear lube.
i have used a 50W synthetic gear oil made for heavy trucks in mine for years.
thin oil will get where it needs to be quicker and it shifts easier too.
my 4 speed was rebuilt 13 years ago and it still don't leak.
i got one year leak free when using a 80W90 gear oil.
wear on the maindrive gear bushing will go to about zero with synthetics.
no one can claim that with any brand of regular mineral type gear oil.
that bushing and mainshaft wear that it causes is the main reason for leaks.
if it leaks, thick gear oil and 25% lucas goop.
best bet is to rebuild and then use synthetics.
