Kicker Install Question......

I have an electric start 4-speed tranny.....when installing a kicker kit, do I remove the 1-3/8 in. nut and locking washer BEFORE istalling the starter clutch or don't even fuck with the nut/washer and install the starter clutch assy. Thanks!
