The fork tubes on this...

Sportster are tapered at the top and machined at the bottom, so that means you can't cut the tube. There is only one spring, no dampener or slug spacer. The shock tube (which is at the bottom and acts as a restricting valve for the oil) is about 8 inches long. The way I am thinking is that, if I would cut two inches off of the end, tap the tube at the bottom for the bolt and redrill the hole in the shank of tube so oil could pass, everything should still work correctly and be lowered 2 inches. Right? Or am I f#%ked up. I think Arlen Ness sells one simuliar for 41mm tubes.
