"there was a little bit of varnish in the petcock." I tend to think this is your problem as well. It does not take much varnish to clog the low speed jets, and the current crap fuel we are forced to run does not help. (If you haven't read Brewdudes articles on gasohol in the last couple of issues, they are very enlightening as to just how much damage can be done by this so called "environmentally friendly" alternative to real gas.) If it sat for any length of time do yourself a favor and pull the carb off, take it apart, and clean it thoroughly. I think this is your problem, but even if it isn't, it won't do any harm.
