Plugs look fine - no indication of a problem there. The first pic is the back side of the carb (the side attached to the manifold) and the dial caliper shows the inside diameter to be 42mm. After spending some time on the Mikuni website I'm pretty sure that this is an HSR-42.
Also, noticed that the Pilot air screw is only 1/2 turn out from seated position. Not sure if this is normal with this carb.
What I really need is a tuning starting point to go by from someone who knows these devices. It's a 1989 Evo engine and as far as I know it is pretty much stock. If I have to buy new jets or needle then I'm willing to do so.
It's pretty sad when my 3/4 ton 4X4 gets almost as many mpg's as my motorcycle.
Ride it, beat it, fuck it up, fix it, repeat.
