If you run a late splined shaft tranny you will need an inner primary with matching outer , you will also need the entire clutch and starter setup . Nothing from your tapered shaft setup will transfer over . IMO the 90-93 stuff is more desirable because of the better ratio's used for the starter and clutch hub .
Curious as to what kinda problems your having that are giving you grief . The newer trannys are no better than what you have other than the welded 5th gear, which is an easy thing to cure .
