I spoke to a veteran pilot who flew this one at Middle Wallop and he said they had weak blue direction lights set into the fuselage in line with the white panels - not much brighter than an old hand torch.

The comprehesive MRC conversion pack gives the option to have the searchlight window visible and the doors open so with a bright white and weaker bue LEDs it could be made to look quite spectacular.
