In the Japo FW190 D-9 Camouflage and Markings Vol 1, I found info on a 12./JG2 D-9 piloted by Uffz. Rolf Burger. He was shot down on December 23, 1944 by the fighter escort of a bomb groug attacking the Ahrweiler railway viaduct. His remains, along with "Blue 9",were recovered in 1968. At the time my father, Ralph Burger, was a flight engineer on a Fifteenth AF B-17G out of Foggia Italy. I built this in memory of them both.
