I honestly can't remember! I've built that kit four times but my newest one (this one) is now old enough to drink. The fit on mine isn't exactly perfect either, if you look closely you'll notice it more, but I do seem to recall trimming/sanding/maybe even spreading something to get it to look a little better.
When I build another one I'll take better note, but don't let that one part scare you away from building it (you'll figure something out, I'm sure) because it's a great kit otherwise, probably the most fun I've ever had glueing pieces together. I usually don't enjoy the assembly part much (painting is my fun) but this kit is just FUN to build, fun to watch come together, and I usually don't do this but mark my words you just can't help but zoom it!
