Those Revell 1/72 Jugs are indeed little jewels. The fit is good and the detail is nearly as good as the Tamiya kit for about triple the price. They are a bargain kit that you seldom see built today.

As for the Spirit, I did exactly as you suggest. The base is very well burnished Bare Metal Foil. I had to scribe a couple of lines on the cowling that were indicated only on the decal before I added the foil. The swirls were made with a mechanical pencil eraser super glued to a tooth pick and turned down on a sanding stick to a diameter of about 1/8 inch. The resulting tool chucked into my Dremel tool and the turnings were done at low speed. The touch was pretty light and each circle overlapped the preceeding one by half. It took longer to make the tool and get set up than it did to do the work.

Very glad you liked the effect. You should try it!
