A few months ago my spring in my Shadow broke. It was a great shooter until then, but it had a few thousand through it. Anyways, a few weeks ago I bought an R9, so some of you may be asking why am I trying to fix my Shadow when I have an R9?!? Well, one reason is so my dad has a more powerful springer to hunt with me, and two so I can keep it around for anyone else that wants to flip some spinners or hunt like a friend or someone. Anyways, I began tear down today, and I have yet to order a tune kit and build a compressor, but I have some questions.
One is do I need a spring compressor to get the broken spring out? It won't cock so there is no preload left. Do I really only need it to get the new spring in? Also, I am having a hell of a time getting the breech block screw out, the one that will allow the barrel block to pop out, any suggestions om that? Any other little pointers that will help me simplify the process are much obliged.
Thanks, and sorry the stupid questions, this is my first home tune.
I am using a tune done to a R11 by Rob in NC as a guide, any other Shadow tune reviews with pics are also greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
