They are far too light for either gun. While they will likely go supersonic (not a good thing, either), they don't provide enough resistance to cushion the pistion when it slams home. You can end up breaking a spring and damaging the piston seal.
As to the different penetration levels, could just be that the pellet fit a bit looser in the Gamo than the Air Hawk. And also the Gamo might have a nicked piston seal or breech seal, as sometimes is the case. If both guns shoot close, I wouldn't worry about it. Just stick to lead pellets. More effective, accurate and less harmful to the guns.
