Just done the Micro GTX trigger mod and now a problem

I have a Shadow 1000 and have just fitted the Micro GTX trigger mod (bolt, nut and spring). The problem I have is that there is now about 1/4" of slack ( back and forth travel) in the trigger before it engages the internal release mech. I have removed and checked it a number of times and also adjusted the 2nd stage but the slack remains - is this normal? Also I noticed that the second stage pin engages the back of the anti-bear trap slide before it releases the firing mechanism. I filled it down so it now does not interfer. Anyway - despite the trigger slack - the mod has made a huge improvement as the release is very light and precise and I can hold the sight on target much more easily when pulling the trigger which improves accuracy by a a significant amount.

Did you remove the stock/OEM adjustment screw, as per instructions?

If you don't, then it will prevent the Strut lever from moving far enough to meet the microGTX adjustment screw and produce the symptom you mention.

trigger mod

With the mini GTX and also the type I make the trigger has to be real free in movement for the best performance. Make sure the trigger pivot holes are smooth and loose it works the best this way.

If the trigger blade is sticky you will never get it adjusted correctly.

Yes it's very free with no sticking at all but it rattles back and forth which doesn't seem right.

it is not adjusted correctly yet, turn the adjusting screw is untill the trigger slack is gone and back it out a turn. Read the adjusting instructions again that came with the mod.

Be carefull not to adjust in to far or the rifle can become unsafe and  fire by itself.

I've screwd it in as far as it will go and the slack remains unchanged although as you say the trigger becomes very unpredictable.
