Well, it only took me three years...better late than never
Miss Lady/Sadie is now known as Gypsy! I only knew her as "Lady" from the transport and the vet's office, but after five minutes spent with this dog, I realized she was too wild and crazy to be a lady.
Gypsy is now sister to an Old English Bulldog and a American Staffordshire Terrier and of course, Fuzz the cat, who is still on the fence about whether he tolerates or hates her. Her doggy sisters are a saving grace; she's come so far in terms of socialization and confident behavior while romping with them!
I'm constantly amazed at how smart she is. She knows Sit, Down, Crawl, Beg and is working on Over (with many hilarious half-attempts). Also, out of necessity, I had to teach her 'Go' which basically means, "Oh my god, dog, you are all up in my business and need to be elsewhere." She interperets it as "Please do a quick circle around the couch and then crawl back up in my lap and stick your head in my mouth," but at least I get a five second break.
Her favorite thing to do is run! And run and run and run and run and LEEEEAAAAP and then run. She utterly fails at retreiving frisbies and balls because she gets excited and drops them and then trips over them. She runs so fast that if she heads out into water, she'll generally get up over her head before she remembers that she's not the greatest fan of water and then will flail like a drowning thing until she manages to flop herself back onto dry ground.
She also loves rolling in smelly things (urgh) and chasing squirrels (and actually managed to get about three branches up into a tree after one once).
Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone who helped with her rescue and who organized her transport, even though it didn't happen. And now, here are some longlong-overdue photos!
PS: Also, I never got anything about a bill or an adoption fee when I adopted her and am wondering if that still needs to be taken care of. Please let me know!
